Stories from the Floor
Hope summer is treating you all well!
Once Upon the Aire will be getting together in August at The Grove. This month we'll be enjoying STORIES FROM THE FLOOR, an opportunity for that story that can't wait to leave your tongue to get around.
Much Love and Flower Power
From the Odd
Tim Ralphs is a compelling, experimental teller with a curiosity for pushing stories to their limits. From The Odd is his kaleidoscopic re-imagining of some of the most familiar material in myth, folktale and playground nursery rhyme – handled with reverence, love, sewing scissors and a welding iron. Each performance is re-stitched and re-soldered, each story and image re-visited and re-imagined. Encounter Orpheus' Lyre, urban landscapes, the Devil playing scrabble, stars, sheds, and jocular cannibals. Let Tim take you to the edge, and bring you back FROM THE ODD!
Plus - as always there will be an opportunity to hear stories "from the floor" so if there's a story you're dying to tell, bring it along!
The Merrie Month of May
Forecast: Sunny spells, with a chance of Morris Dancers.
Join us in a celebration to welcome the coming summer. May-poles and picnics; sand-castles and marching bands. The promise of joy, and the slightly bonkers things that we do whenever there's a hint of sunshine.
If there's a story you've been itching to tell, bring it along to entertain us - or just come along and listen to the strange and delightful tales.
Resident story-tellers Peter Findlay and Andrew Macpherson will be on hand to make sure the goblins don't drink all the Pimms by themselves.
Please note that the Leeds Story Nights are moving back to Thursday evenings, and our new venue is the Grove Inn!
Darkest England
When the green field comes off like a lid,
revealing what was much better hid ...
Simon will take us on a rummage through the storytelling skeletons in the English national closet. Advisory: may contain extreme peril and violence, black dogs, dead moons, flying children, rose trees and Charles Dickens' least favourite bedtime story.
Plus, there'll be a chance to hear stories 'from the floor', so if there's a tale you've been dying to tell - now's your chance!
Note: we have a different venue this month. We'll be in The Grove Inn, Back Row, tucked just behind Bridgewater Place (under the Dalek).
