Darkest England
When the green field comes off like a lid,
revealing what was much better hid ...
Simon will take us on a rummage through the storytelling skeletons in the English national closet. Advisory: may contain extreme peril and violence, black dogs, dead moons, flying children, rose trees and Charles Dickens' least favourite bedtime story.
Plus, there'll be a chance to hear stories 'from the floor', so if there's a tale you've been dying to tell - now's your chance!
Note: we have a different venue this month. We'll be in The Grove Inn, Back Row, tucked just behind Bridgewater Place (under the Dalek).
Stories from the Floor
Romance & Ragamuffins
A magical feast of food & fable for lovers, mothers, brothers and others.
We start 2010 by welcoming Ursula back to the Adelphi. In March last year she enthralled us with some astonishing tales of her upbringing in an enchanted Blackburn (and a song which wasn't in the least bit rude).
Now she's back with a new show, packed full of tasty ingredients and sparkling baubles of wit.
After winning awards as an actress, Ursula has returned to her roots, to her love of fairy and folk tale. She has enjoyed commissions with Opera North, The Northern Trust for Storytelling, The Festival at the Edge, and Folk and Story Clubs throughout the UK.
Winter Wonder Tales
The December Story Night is running on a Wednesday, rather than the usual Tuesday.
